Using as a case study the famous Madonna relief attributed to Donatello and now in the Bode Museum in Berlin, Lynn Catterson examines the wheeling and dealing, and double-dealing, which took place during the transaction of the relief from Bardini to Wilhelm von Bode, the museum's agent.
