Dennis Clark, owner of Firenze’s Body Language Pilates, was certified in Pilates Mats and Apparatus by Katie Roelle’s Body Reformation in Atlanta, Georgia in 2002. She trains and certifies new teachers in Pilates and keeps her studio bustling with regular classes, seminars and organizing related events. After 30 years as a photo/food stylist in Atlanta, Dennis moved to Florence following a decades-long dream ‘go European’. She stays balanced by being involved in ex-pat and art study groups, reading on a wide variety of subjects, and writing books about movement.
“Being surrounded in Florence by art, I've come to consider teaching Pilates as my own art form -and I get to work with living mediums. Beginners are like blank canvases with the image becoming more complex and intriguing as their level advances. And like sculptures, each body presents a unique set of textures and contours to be smoothed and buffed. A defining element of my teaching method is to guide each participant into accepting their body as a unique work of art, and that it can become more refined with nurturing, instruction and a little hard work.”
Dennis Clark will be offering an 80-minute Pilates Mats Introductory Session at Palazzo San Niccolò on Tuesday 20 February. The session will be taught in English, but key directives can be translated into Italiano if necessary. Get ready for a roll on the floor with a mild, non-cardio vascular workout that connects your body to your mind, and learn the basics of Pilates Mats with an experienced instructor. Eight clean mats and teaching props will be available for use. www.pilatesinenglish.com
